David Hake has been at University of Tennessee since 1965, receiving a PhD in Management Science in 1972. He served as director of a regional economic policy research center at UT from 1972 to 1995. Starting in 1985 his interests increasingly turned toward international regional development with a particular focus in Central and Eastern Europe. In 1990 he helped establish the non-profit corporation, Alliance of Universities for Democracy (AUDEM) and also the administrative home of AUDEM, UT's Central and East European Center, serving these organizations as president and director respectively. He is professor of management at UT teaching courses in international business.
