My good pal Pete Durgan just earned a Pick of the Week at the Washington Post's excellent site with MP3s of local arteests. She's recording as My Sister Pete, which I think is a very cool name. Pete is an amazing, versatile bassist who was my bandmate for an all-too-brief period. Her original songs are very jazzy, and she has a unique style of chording the bass as accompaniment to her smoky, laconic vocal stylings. The PotW link will change, so use this permanent one to find Pete's place at the Post web, and here's her own site. Congrats, Pete! While I'm plugging away, see also her hubby Wayne's site. Wayne is a gifted singer and picker known to channel Lowell George. He also does spot-on harmonies in a Beach Boys party band called Still Surfin'.
