Treason

In case anyone wonders who called the tune by which this Administration danced into Iraq, today it's reported that Douglas Feith -- one of the war's earliest architects and most ardent cheerleaders -- has employed a mole who stands accused of passing highly classified material to Israel. The alleged traitor's name is Larry Franklin.

With exquisite understatement, a New York Times article says, "American counterintelligence officials say that Israeli espionage cases are difficult to investigate, because they involve an important ally that enjoys broad political influence in Washington." I've maintained all along that people who said we were going to war over oil were no more than half right. WMDs might have been the stated rationale, but they were third on the list, at best.

Franklin works for Feith, who works for Wolfowitz, who works for Rummy, who works for Bush, who works for . . .

It's Bush policy. Yet he cannot even articulate what he's doing. TOF apparently concurs.

Perhaps this "I cannot win the war" admission is part of his "I want to be the war... no I mean 'the peace'... president" policy flip-flop.

Sure looks to me like Bush is going AWOL - again - in his own unjust war. To all the families with kids in Iraq, you're just going to have to understand now, I can't win it. To all the folks who questioned the Iraq war in the first place, you already knew I couldn't win it. To all the moderates out there, what did you expect from someone who avoided duty when it was my time to serve, who has no experience in war?

Kerry will win the election, the war & the peace.

Please refer all questions on the war on terror to the senate minority leader.

While he's trying to mitigate mass incredulity at the ignorance Bush displayed by saying such a stupid thing, maybe this gifted "Communications Director" (spinmeister) can also explain what Bush meant when he called Iraq a "Catastrophic Success?"

Check with your man Daschle first. RNC Communications Director Jim Dyke made the following statement today:

"Today the Democrats in New York are accusing the President of the United States of failing to lead and win the war on terror. Even Sen. Daschle must find these attacks baseless since his re-election campaign is running commercials embracing (literally hugging) President Bush's leadership in the War on Terror.

Bush admits he doesn't think he can win the war on terror! I finally agree w/ something he's said - I don't think he can either.

Real nice message to send to the families with kids in Iraq, you moron. It's going to be so sweet, when we send this guy packing back to the ranch.

...Cheney, who still works for... Halliburton.

Good of 60 Minutes to re-air H's offshore business connections with known terror-sponsoring states.

Q: what LP did proven draft-dodgers and pampered texan party-maniacs listen to in the 60s? A: "We're Only In It For The Money." Too dim-witted and greedy to catch the irony.

Cheney still refuses to disclose the content of his 'energy policy' strategy session with his big oil advisors. I can hear the ghost of Zappa sneering, in a Cheneyesque snarl: "Yeah, Saddam isn't playing nice anymore. We'll bring it to him. That will open up his fields and send a message to Iran & Syria that *we mean business.*"

More negative. I’m shocked that you bring up Iraq.

Speaking to reporters about two weeks ago, Kerry said he would still have voted to give President Bush the authority to go to war, even if he had known that intelligence on Iraq's weapons programs was flawed, that Saddam Hussein possessed no WMD and that there was no link between Saddam and September 11. "Yes, I would have voted for the authority," Mr. Kerry said while visiting the Grand Canyon. "I believe it was the right authority for a president to have."

Let’s review: Flawed intel, No WMD, No link between Saddam and 9/11, Kerry still gives authority to go to war. Even I wouldn’t say that. When did Kerry join the Bush campaign? Soon VC will start calling for those dirty smear merchants to stop unfairly using Kerry’s words against him.

WRT Israeli counterintel, just ask Kerry. I believe he was on one of those secret missions and won the Congressional Medal of Honor and 4 Purple Hearts.

Ready to debate energy policy and national security when you are.
