The Darkness

Can these guys be for real? Consensus seems to be: Yes, sort of. The video is brilliant -- watch for the Marshall stacks rising to infinity.

Be sure to read the bio section. Classic stuff, in every sense. Thanks to Scott for the link. Check out their offizielle Deutsche site, too. It's apparently true that they've been touring w/ the Stones. Wow.

Pat -- Yes, there's something very Tenacious D about them. Jack Black has grown on me -- at first I thought he was just goofy, but there's a lot of levels to his homages/parodies.

Amy -- Yes, the Blind Willie disk was to demonstrate where Jack White (weird symmetry here!) copped his vocal song stylings, in a good way. More homage than parody, but they are campy, aren't they? The 'Stripes, not Pig n Whistle!

I saw them on MTV (or MTV2 - I can't remember) so it must be true. I've not actually *heard* anything, though.
I still haven't thanked you for the CD you sent me! I wasn't sure why I got it (some long-ago conversation, perhaps?) but I've enjoyed it! Was it about The White Stripes? 'Cause I think it was.
I'm so glad you got to go to Scotland - I love it. Thanks again!

I got turned on to the Darkness after Jack Black mentioned them on Stern a couple weeks back. I love "Love on the Rocks with No Ice". Haven't seen any video yet.

I'm back in the blog biz, btw.
