Lightning Strikes, Not Once . . .

. . . But Twice. I can't allow this to go uncommented upon in Cipherdom: The University of Tennessee has seen its second disgraced president resign in just over two years. Having spent a good chunk of my adult life working there, I could wax indignant, philosophical and nostalgic all at once. But mostly it's sad to see a once-proud institution debased by a couple of corrupt old guys who were hired by other corrupt old guys. What a collective betrayal of the public's trust. There's a lot of talk nationwide about making university trustees more accountable, but it may be too late for my alma mater, at least for now.

This news account isn't the most thorough, but it gives the essentials. I've linked to it for the poignant anecdote about UT's ex-president's ex-wife's closet full of unwearable orange clothes. Welcome to the club!
