Dear David:

(1) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I).

My sincere congratulations to the 40th anniversary of your prestigious
journal “Simulation & Gaming.”

Time really flies fast, indeed!! At every 10th anniversary up to the 30th,
you kindly invited me for my contribution of an article, but I was busy to
comply with your requests — very sorry about it.

(2) Pls retrieve the following which is my first draft of my contribution to
the 40th occasion;

> “Development History of Peace Gaming and Global University System”

Pls feel free to inform me which parts of it should be cut out to shorten,
although I can easily make it double with more episodes.

I will then send you its MS/WORD version — pls tell me which of MS/Office
2004 or 2008 version should be.

Pls also inform me the procedures how to visits previous issues of G&S.

Dear Walter:

(3) Hope you and your wife are now safely back to your home in Nigeria after
a month long vacation in the US — it was certainly my great pleasure to have
met with both of you at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU on 8/21/08;

> (08/25/08) Meeting with Prof. Walter Ollor from Nigeria at Polytechnic
> Institute of NYU on 8/21/08
> http://tinyurl.com/65aw7z

As mentioned in it, I am very happy you would make GCEPG/GSEEED projects as
your first priority on the creation of the Center for Conflict Prevention,
Management and Resolution on Environmental Issues in Niger Delta Region of
Nigeria, which would then lead to the creation of GUS/Nigeria. I am sure
that the governors of states in the region would appreciate your economic,
energy and environment policy analysis and assessment.

Pls feel free to utilize any part of my paper mentioned above for your
constructing a concept paper of fund raising to create GUS/Nigeria with
Peter.

Dear Carl:

(4) I am still waiting for your write-up how our peace gaming project fit to
your newly establishing center on simulation (whatever its name would be).

Dear Hans, Jonathan and Ralph:

(5) David asked me to have a few reviewers’ comments to my paper, from the
person who are in simulation/gaming fields.

I would greatly appreciate it if you can kindly go through my paper (about
25 pages) and send me your brief comments.

> Dear Jonathan:
> It has been sometime since our last correspondences. Hope our project will
> have some synergy with yours and complementary each other, particularly on the
> construction of the Globally Collaborative Network for Conflict Prevention,
> Management and Resolution (GCN/CPMR) on Environmental Issues mentioned in the
> Section 3.9. of the paper above — BTW, you would find my reminiscences on the
> joint game with Prof. Bob Noel (your professor at the University of California
> in Santa Barbara) almost 35 years ago in the Section 1.4. I would like to
> contact you from time to time from now on how we can work together.

Dear E-Colleagues:

(6) I would also greatly appreciate it if you will provide me with your
review if you are in the simulation/gaming fields.

(7) If you wish, you may also submit your paper to David, if you are working
in this field.

Thanks in advance.

Best, Tak

> Invitation to write an article
> for the 40th anniversary of S&G
>
> In less than a year, in 2009, S&G starts volume 40. Most of the 2009 issues
> will be devoted a 40th anniversary celebration symposium (special issue).
>
> I would like to invite you to do a top flight, high quality article in your

> indeed a combination of, the following:
>
> - Review article: A critical review of the major publications in the area,
> going back over the years (even 40 or 50 perhaps), with recommendations for

>
> - Recent developments: Similar to review, but going back only a few years,

> Topics can be methodology centered, such as debriefing, design, computers.
> They can be content focused, such as business, international relations,
> cross-cultural communication, natural resources, medical, crisis management,
> policy, urban planning, language acquisition, sociology, behaviour, learning,
> etc. The topic should be fairly broad.
>
> Deadline. The articles will be published throughout 2009. I would like some
> articles ready for publishing by the end of Oct 2008, but later dates until
> mid 2009 are also possible.
>
> Quality. This is an invitation, so I will not have the article put through
> the normal blind review. However, what I would appreciate is you setting up a
> simple personal review process. In practice, this means having two reviewers
> of your own (critical colleagues) to provide honest and written feedback on
> each version of your article. When you send in your final version, it would
> be useful for me to have a copy of those reviews.
>
> I will be blunt; this is not a 'blind' invitation; I will retain the
> prerogative of rejecting an article if it is not (or cannot be brought) up to
> scratch. As you know, S&G aims to publish high quality work. This is even
> more important in a symposium such as this, and in a field like
> simulation/gaming, which struggles more than many to maintain legitimacy.
>
> Co-authoring. Co-authoring usually produces better articles (1+1=3). I would
> therefore strongly urge you to find one or two co-authors. With co-authoring,
> you may find that reviewing (above) can be lighter.
>
> Work. I would like to emphasize that an article of this nature may require
> some considerable time on your part, possibly more than a more focused
> research piece. However, the reward is that this sort of article always ranks
> much higher in citations - you get quoted much more.
>
> Length. I would guess that anything between 6k and 9k words would be
> appropriate. Please keep your writing tight and the length to the minimum
> necessary.
>
> Impact. I see your article as having a major impact on the field for
> simulation/gaming, and helping to set the scene and direction for the next 10
> years. As I said, in most academic journals, this sort of article later gets
> the greatest number of citations in other works.
>
> This would be particularly fitting as S&G might be accepted in the next
> application round for inclusion in Journal Citation Reports (JCR), formerly
> ISI, which includes only the 'top' 12% of journals. We only just missed it
> last time. Your paper and JCR would be mutually beneficial.
>
> Other authors. If you know of other authors (in fields other than yours) who
> would be able to write a high quality article, please send me their contact
> details.
