Dear Ninoslav:
(1) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I) in response to our following
list distribution;
> (06/04/06) Possible creation of GUS/Croatia and brief description on our GUS
> and GCEPG projects
> http://makeashorterlink.com/?T26D1235D
I greatly appreciate your valuable suggestions to our GUS project.
> Dear E-Colleagues:
>
> I strongly suggest that you read this ATTACHMENT I through.
(2) About your suggestion of creating a trust with hedge funds, pls visit
the following list distribution;
> (05/26/06) Support for World Island Project
> http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q2732513D
This a multi billion dollar (almot US$45 billion in total) project which is
to be raised with the bond a similar idea as yours.
They selected our GUS to play a major role in this project.
(3) I agree with you 100% on the need to teach morals along with wisdom when
we promote intercultural mutual understanding among youth around the world
during the conduct of;
> Takeshi Utsumi, GLOSAS/USA
> "Globally Collaborative Environmental Peace Gaming"
We plan to have a commanding center (like a NASA¹s space control center) of
this project at the World Island (i.e., Governor¹s Island) in the New York
harbor, so that youngsters around the world would engage in it from their
schools and homes (or even at a bus station with WiFi wireless laptop), so
that they can foster their friendship and trust across national,
continental, and oceanic boundaries.
(4) I am delighted to know that you have well established Internet
infrastructure already.
However, our aim is to have broadband Internet for the triple play, i.e.,
the combined use for telephony, data via Internet (e.g., email, web, music,
etc.), and now emerging video (e.g., TVs and movies) -- and very possibly
even with wireless mobile units like cell phone, etc.
We also need to concentrate on the delivery of contents, too.
> BTW, I saw recently on a TV news that an Indian lady in India now teaches an
> American pupil via Internet, as chatting together with audio and video. If
> your school uses English, your people may also do the same from Croatia. I
> think this is toward global peace, since no body wants to wage war against
> they beloved teachers.
(5) Very glad to know that your Croatian youngster won an international
prize on computer science over American.
You also had a very strong soccer team which withdrew a game with a Japanese
team the other day in Germany.
(6) Many thanks also for your msg (ATTACHMENT II).
This is a tremendous male quires with almost 1,000 singers at the Budo Kan
(Marshall Art Hall) in Tokyo.
I am very glad to know that Japan had a such close tie with your Croatia for
long time!!
(7) Looking forward to hearing the progress of your creating GUS/Croatia.
Best, Tak

>> Dear Takeshi,
>>
>> Let me first apologize for taking much of your precious time. Here are some
>> thoughts of mine which I would like to share with you. This is just a
>> thinking of mine and I hope that in a bunch of my thoughts there just might
>> be something interesting for you.
>> It is very important to have simple but efficient technology available all
>> around the globe for people who earn 1 or 2 US$ per day. Now this is a
>> problem. But not unsolvable as we can see it with this beautiful and breath
>> away taking project of laptop for every child.
>>
>> First there should be a private Trust with independent control from any
>> government or any other private institution. Because without financial
>> freedom there is no freedom at all. Such Trust should have founding capital
>> in hedge fonds and after some time in direct investments in countries where
>> specific technology is needed. This capital should be acquired through
>> humanitarian, private philanthropists and government sources.
>> In the board people from various walks of life should be present - from top
>> professors and scientist, lawyers, sociologists, medical doctors, and
>> everyday people. A common sense should be used in making decisions.
>>
>> What should be activities of such trust?
>>
>> 1) A special team of experts should buy patents on technologies which would
>> be simple, cheap, practical and easy to use in developing countries. Why? To
>> be able to give without obligation to any private or government firm all
>> that technology to the people and for the people. This way many important
>> patents could become an "open source patents" just like we have an open
>> source software. Also it is very important to have a team of top legal
>> experts for this project.
>>
>> 2) When the communication infrastructure is finished, it is always the
>> question of the quality of information that is presented to the people who
>> are using it.
>> It is a common sense that there is no bad or good technology or knowledge.
>> It is man who is deciding how he will use technology. You can use nuclear
>> energy to power cities with electricity or you can blast a nuclear bomb.
>> So we come to the basic question of building morals and human values plus
>> education on useful technologies.
>> Children should inculcate human values of nonviolence, right conduct, peace,
>> truth and love through program over the internet. This is best possible way
>> of using technology. Very sophisticated psychological approach must be used
>> to transfer both knowledge and moral values together and through special
>> programs over internet and radio / TV. And, what is very important, teacher
>> must live this and be an excellent example of what he teaches. Even a
>> slightest decline of the things he teaches may destroy his reputation.
>>
>> Therefore it is necessary to start detailed program of contents on both
>> cheap and effective technologies plus morals should be implemented with it.
>>
>> Contents should consist of things like - how to grow crops, where to find
>> water, how to cooperate in usage of water, nonviolent solving of conflicts,
>> how to build a house, how to do plumbing, how to maintain hygiene, how to
>> avoid of getting infected with various diseases, how to recycle waste
>> products, how to purify water, how to avoid polluting water and land, how to
>> make your own clothes, how to cook on solar energy, how to use the power of
>> water, sunlight and wind, how to learn reading and calculus etc. To put it
>> simply - how to be self-sufficient and to do it in an ecological way.
>>
>> Contents of such project should be controlled so that all the time there is
>> an evaluation process going on so that a high standard of education could be
>> maintained.
>>
>> 3) Trust should be able to generate new businesses and to have production of
>> vital products. This could generate more money in the process and then make
>> the project bigger and bigger. Also investments could be made in the
>> countries where is a need for a specific product and in this way help them
>> to have that needed technology.
>>
>> 4) Public relations office with complete concept and strategy is needed for
>> such projects.
>>
>> 5) Marketing of the project - very important, without marketing nothing can
>> be achieved because people simply do not know what you are doing. And it has
>> to be put in a simple, everyday language so that even a very uneducated
>> person know what it is all about, and what are global benefits of such
>> projects. (transparency) Top marketing people, especially if they are
>> oriented toward humanitarian work, should be included in it.
>>
>> 6) Use interdisciplinary approach to help solving problems in the world. It
>> would be nice to have an international contest with some prize for solutions
>> on how to solve some big problems like energy, food, education etc. It may
>> sound crazy, but people can be highly creative and produce many interesting
>> things. Best solutions do not necessarily have to come out of big research
>> institutes, but from some undiscovered genius who are walking unrecognized
>> amongst us.
>>
>> 7) Know-how written in simple words on how to start GUS just anywhere in the
>> world.
>>
>> 8) Attracting all parties interested in GUS and associated projects to
>> coordinate tightly and work as one.
>>
>> 9) Getting strong support of NGOs, humanitarian institutions and others who
>> have interest in global welfare.
>>
>> As a species, human kind is now growing out of its teens. We are still
>> stubborn, greedy, opportunistic. But the luxury of such way of acting has
>> expired. Either we are going to face global problems all together, or we
>> aren't going to face the future at all. We should first think what is good
>> for the planet, then for mankind, and forget our small and insignificant
>> differences. We have much more in common than we can even imagine. And
>> projects like GUS and laptop for every child gives me great enthusiasm and
>> feeling of deeper meaning of our existence! Cooperation, mutual
>> understanding, solving problems together without thinking that we do not
>> have anything to learn from those who are not highly educated is the way
>> that will give us more secure future. That is why my heart goes with your
>> projects. They are showing in right direction, direction of survival and
>> secure development of human race.
>>
>> About Croatia
>>
>> In Croatia we are building a lot of infrastructure for high speed internet.
>> Now it is no problem to get DSL connection in all the cities. International
>> T-com company is leading company in our country, and many things we already
>> have. University also has high speed internet.
>> More and more people are buying IT - PC equipment and getting on internet.
>>
>> My vision (suggestion) would be that Croatian Universities, highs schools
>> and elementary schools produce lectures in English. An action could be
>> called - children of Croatia for children of Africa (Asia or World) and
>> students from Croatia for students in Africa. (math lectures, science
>> lectures, and various things could be produced and presented on the
>> internet)
>>
>> I am not working any more in Endocrinology dept. of state Clinical Hospital
>> "Sestre Milosrdnice". I am now in a private business and in private
>> education and it has given me an opportunity to see things outside state
>> institutions.
>>
>> Our Ministry of health and social care has started the project of
>> telemedicine which will be used for benefit of our island population. We
>> have over 1000 islands, most of which are unpopulated, but there are some
>> which are populated and because of the distance and medical isolation a need
>> for telemedicine has been recognized. This type of telemedicine is for
>> consultancies of specialists which are not found on islands.
>>
>> Yes, I would like to have a template for the reference about Establishing
>> GUS/Altai Mir in Siberia with broadband Internet of GLORIAD. I would like to
>> give such presentation to as many colleagues and VIPs in Croatia as
>> possible. From what I know, our government has soon after announcement of
>> inexpensive laptops ordered two pieces for our expert to analyze and find
>> use for it in our schools. They do not have to pronounce it adequate because
>> we already have many schools who are equipped with PCs and broadband
>> internet. But cooperation can be accomplished in other important fields of
>> GUS projects. Also our national high school team has won international prize
>> on American Computer Science League (ACSL) contest (two first prizes and one
>> second prize). Croatian team was better than US team. Therefore, there is a
>> high potential for finding young people who would be interested in GUS.
>>
>> Thank you for your precious time.
>>
>> Be happy!
>>
