Dear Jerry:

(1) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I).

It was my great pleasure to have met with you at your office yesterday
afternoon.

I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate your outstanding accomplishment
of your wonderful World Island project so far.

Upon your request, I am now taking the liberty of disseminating its
information to our list members as you see below.

Dear E-Colleagues:

(2) Attached to this msg are the followings;

> (a) The Future of the New York Harbor: Governors Island as a World Resource
> Center
> <gov_island.pdf> <http://makeashorterlink.com/?I2A142C2D>
> and <http://www.wdef.org/>
>
> (b) Letter of Support
> <Letter of Support_v1.pdf>
> <http://makeashorterlink.com/?H4C132C2D>
>
> (c) Synopsis of ³Global University System with Globally Collaborative
> Environmental Peace Gaming²
> <Synopsis of GUS+GCEPG.doc>

(3) This is a project to make the Governors Island in the New York Harbor as
the World Center of Culture, as a counterpart to the centers of
international finance and politics of New York, and is certainly an epoch
making as similar to the creation of the Central Park in Manhattan almost a
century and a half ago.

This island was purchased by the City of New York and the State of New York
from the US Federal Government as each paying 50 cents ($0.50). The
mandates of this purchase are to use it as educational, recreational and
cultural purposes.

This will be a multi-billion dollar project which would be financed by
issuing bonds, and to be completed in the coming decade or so, when approved
by the City of New York.

The project proposal has been submitted by Jerry to the City of New York on
May 10th.

(4) Our Global University System (GUS) was selected to play a major role in
the education field here.

We envision to have our Global Operation Center as mentioned in the Item
(2)-(b) above.

> The center would act for the coordination and brokerage of services available
> from higher learning, healthcare and cultural institutions not only in the
> tri-state around the New York City, but also from similar ones in north
> America to various countries around the world. BTW, NYC is the world treasure
> trove of those services. We now start contemplating how to form a coalition
> of those institutions in the tri-state areas.

The University of Tampere in Finland would be our Administrative Center.

(5) There is now a few Japanese colleagues who started considering to create
a similar operation center in Japan (GUS/Japan) for Asia and the Pacific
regions.

The main purpose is to have Japanese youngsters get familiar with serving
impoverished people in developing countries around the world by delivering
the contents of those services available not only from Japan but also from
any other countries through broadband Internet. This may then lead to the
creation of globally collaborative innovation network for experiential
e-learning as well as for creation of new knowledge as mentioned in the Item
(2)-(c) above.

Dear Dave:

(6) You may be interested in this project from your previous involvement in
the New York City Planning Committee.

Dear John:

(7) You may also be interested in this from your experiences on the creation
of Smart (creative) Communities in California.
