Dear Moti:

(1) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I) with a kind offer of your help
to approach Bangladesh Open University (BOU) if they might be interested in
establishing GUS/Bangladesh.

I am sure that you have a very good relation with them since the time when
you were at the Asian Development Bank in Manila, the Philippines for 19
years.

(2) I also express my sincere gratitude for your excellent paper contribute=
d
to our forthcoming book;

> =B3Global Peace Through The Global University System=B2 which outline can be
> retrieved at;
ity%2
> 0System/UNESCO_Chair_Book/Bk_outline-D13.html

(3) Yes, pls feel free to approach BOU to find out their interest in our GU=
S
project.

However, I would suggest that you may visit my following previous list
distribution;

> [gu-l] (07/18/03) Initial fund raising for starting GUS at
> http://www.friends-partners.org/pipermail/gu-l/2003q3/000219.html

BOU may follow the models of our colleagues in Uganda and Malawi to get
funds from the following;

> Japan Social Development Fund of the World Bank
> http://www.worldbank.org/rmc/jsdf/approvals.htm

As you see in this web site, Bangladesh is an eligible country to apply for
this fund.

BTW, Asian Development Bank in Manila, the Philippines, may also have a
similar program =8B pls check it with your colleagues there.

(4) Since our GUS will engage not only in e-learning but also
e-healthcare/telemedicine, you may also meet with Dr. Zakir (ATTACHMENT II)
and Mr. Rahman whom I met in March of 2001 at the Bangladesh Mission to the
UN by the kind introduction of Dr. Larry Gell. Mr. Rahman authorized to
participate in our GUS project and told me that he would invite me to
Bangladesh for my facts-finding to hold a mini-workshop later.

Dear Dr. Zakir:

(5) Many thanks for your msg of today (ATTACHMENT II).

I am sorry I could not meet with you while you were in NYC.

Pls convey my best personal regards to Mr. Rahman when you meet with him
next time.

(6) Pls feel free to contact me if we can be of any help to your project,
e.g., public health information system, continuing medical education (CME),
telemedicine, etc., etc.

It might be prudent if you put your effort together with BOU people, for
effective utilization of broadband Internet, etc.

Dear Mr. Shaheen:

(7) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT III).

(8) You may join in the GUS/Bangladesh movement in your country.

(9) When you meet with Mr. Tashiro, pls convey my best personal regards.

He is a mentor to Mr. Yoshio Utsumi, Director-General of the International
Telecommunications Union (ITU).

I look forward to receiving your next msg on your development.

Best, Tak

Dear Mr. Utsumi,
=20
Thank you very much for including me in to your mailing list. It is my
unique privilege to be associated with you. I first came to know your
program from Mr. M. Fazlur Rahman, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, Government of Bangladesh. Mr. Rahman had advised me to contact you
last year and finally I got your contact recently. I just returned from a
visit to USA and unfortunately I did not have your contact address while I
was in NY, otherwise I could have met you there. However, I look forward to
meeting with you in next possible opportunity.
=20
I will study in more detail of programs in Malawi and Uganda. It gave me
immense pleasure to know that you are a fellow from University of Nebraska
in Lincoln. I have been enjoying enormous cooperation from UNMC/NHS of Omah=
a
and the office of the Governor of Nebraska. From October 29-31, 2003 I
headed an official delegation from Bangladesh to Nebraska under invitation
from the Governor. The delegation included Mr. M. Fazlur Rahman (Secretary
of Health) and Dr. M. R. Khan - National Professor of Medicine.
=20
I will pass your contact address to Mr. Fazlur Rahman.
=20
Regarding our rural healthcare program: I had taken a different initiative
and continued working on it since 1998 with our own funding sources without
any financial assistance or grant from either Govt. or NGO. I am happy to
inform you that we have successfully completed design and development of th=
e
system with limited resources and going for piloting of our program
simultaneously in Bangladesh and in India from 4th quarter of this year. Ou=
r
model is a commercial one banking on existing expenses being incurred by th=
e
people of rural community in our region. Our mission is to develop a
self-sustainable program, economically viable and visibly effective one to
ensure primary and specialized health services to rural community.
=20
I sincerely hope that we will be more available for wide-spread
collaborations with other initiatives around the world within next one year=
.
=20
I will keep in touch with your program and developments and looking forward
to meeting with you sometime near future.
=20
Best Regards,
Zakir

With reference to the recommendation of Mr. Ku Tashiro from Tokyo, Japan, I
would like to introduce myself for your very kind of attention. I am a
Bangladeshi, residing in Tokyo for the last 8 years. I have completed
masters in Engineering from a national University in Japan on March 1998.
Since then, I am involved in ICT sector with on-line database management
job. I have my own organization in Bangladesh where a group of ICT
professionals are involved with different solutions. My main intention is t=
o
serve the country people as well as our nation.

For your very kind of consideration, I am pleased to be attached herewith
the idea of Virtual Educational System (VES). The proposed VES is a new
concept that is designed by myself for the proper educational development i=
n
Asian region. Now the days, I am trying to start the development of VES and
seeking support from the different organizations in Japan. According to thi=
s

my concept VES.

I, therefore, hope and pray for your kind support and providing your helpin=
g

I am very sorry for the late reply as I was out of Japan for a 10 days over=

<BR>
By the way, yesterday, I met with Tashiro Sensei and conveyed your best wis=
