Pls enjoy reading it.

Dear Kaisa and Marita:

(2) Thank you very much again for your excellent paper with practical
description how to transform from the Industrial Age to Knowledge Age.

You stated at the end of your paper as follows;

> =B3The biggest barrier for new development of Human-Centric Knowledge Socie=
ty is
> our Industrial Age mindset!=B2

This is a profound statement indicating a global social revolution!! I wis=
h
Japanese realize of this fact, since they have not succeeded the
transformation yet as indicating with their economic doldrums in the past
dozen years =8B in contrast, the Silicon Valley economy surpassed the Detroit
economy almost a dozen years ago.

Dear Dr. Tokuda and Steve:

(3) Dr. Kautto-Koivula made a very impressive talk on this subject during
our workshop on =B3Emerging Global Electronic Distance Learning (EGEDL)=B2 at
the University of Tampere in August, 1999 =8B see its transcript at;
http://www.uta.fi/~titava/EGEDL/

She kindly responded to my request to elaborate it further to this present
paper contribution. This paper is one of the most important chapters in ou=
r
book indicating the future direction of our GUS project. The reason of my
request was to introduce this paper to Japanese, with my hope to help savin=
g
the current Japanese economy.

> Japanese now urgently need this mind-change from industrial society (wher=
e
> obedience predominate) to knowledge society (where creativity prevail).
> Japanese economic doldrums is, I believe, due to their culture based on
> Confucianism inherited from ancient China. It made Japan to become an

Subsequently, I would greatly appreciate it if you can kindly translate thi=
s
paper into Japanese =8B Kaisa has already given to me its right to the
Japanese translation.

(4) I would also greatly appreciate it if you can translate following two
papers, too;

(5) When I will be in Tokyo next time, I would like to hand those Japanese
translations with our forthcoming book to echelons of Japanese parliament
and government, e.g., Dr. Taro Nakayama (former minister of foreign
affairs), Mr. Sohei Miyashita (former minister of health and welfare and
secretary of self-defense force), Ms. Atsuko Toyama (minister of education
and science), Mr. Marutei Tsurunen (originally from Finland, but now
Japanese citizen and a member of Japanese house), and others.

Dear Mr. Tsurunen:

(6) It was my great pleasure to have been introduced to you by Tapio Varis
last fall when you visited back Finland.

It would be my great honor if I could visit you when I will be in Tokyo nex=
t
time.

BTW, Mr. Kan, chief of your party, is a junior graduate of my alma mater,
Tokyo Institute of technology, so that he may be able to understand those
papers mentioned above.

Best, Tak
