Dear Miguel:
(1) My wife, Hisae, and I are very delighted to receive your cordial
invitation for me to attend your two very interesting events from 11/20th t=
o
28th in Havana, Cuba (ATTACHMENT I).
It will be our great honor and privilege to accept your invitation. Thank
you very much.
(2) About our travel, if we can go to Montreal or Toronto, Canada from New
York, there may be direct non-stop flight from there to Havana. We prefer
this route.
If you have to arrange only with Cuban airline which goes to Cancun, we can
fly from New York to Cancun directly =8B this was the way I took last
February. However, since I had to stay at Cancun airport for almost 8
hours, it was very grueling and we prefer not to take this route again, if
possible.
(3) Should you wish to follow the suit of our Amazon project, I would like
to meet and discuss with many of your colleagues (including high-ranking
officers of your Cuban government whom you indicated in your previous msgs)
during our stay, -- including funding strategies from various sources, e.g.=
,
Tinker Foundation, European Commission, etc.
We can also make site survey and configure our joint project to deploy
broadband wireless Internet from your institute to nearby K-12 schools with
the possible fund from the Grass Root Fund of the Japanese government.
