Dear Renate:

(1) I thank you again for your time when I visited you several weeks ago.

I greatly appreciated your encouragement for us to submit our grant
application to your Tinker Foundation (deadline September 1st) for our
planned workshop to be held in Manaus, Amazon, Brazil early next year.

Pls retrieve Draft #1 of our full proposal on the =B3International Workshop
for The Community Development with E-Learning and E-Healthcare in Amazon,
Brazil=B2 at
http://www.friends-partners.org/GLOSAS/Manaus%20Workshop/Tinker%20Foundatio=

/Application%20Form/Tinker_Proposal_Web/Application_to_Tinker.html

> At our last mtg, I gave you a copy of our grant application submitted to =
(and

(2) Pls also visit =B3Application for Grass Root Fund (Draft #6) for the
Manaus Community Development Network (May 13, 2002)=B2 at
http://www.friends-partners.org/GLOSAS/Manaus%20Workshop/Grass_Root_Fund/Ap=
p
lication_Form/MCDN-GR-Draft-6.htm

We already submitted this application to the Japan Consulate in Manaus.
This project is to provide broadband Internet to K-12 schools in underserve=
d
areas in the City of Manaus free of charge.

(3) Incidentally, the aforementioned workshop in Manaus next year is to
configure the deployments of CampusNet which is to interconnect 6 federal
universities in Amazon region via broadband digital satellite network, and
also of the Community Development Networks (CDNs) in the cities of the main
campuses of the CampusNet affiliated universities.

We will construct a comprehensive document about the deployment which will
then be submitted to the Japanese government=B9s ODA fund in late next year.

> BTW, according to today=B9s Japanese newspaper, Mr. Koizumi, the Prime Mini=
ster
> of Japan, will pledge US$2 billion (5 years) for funding K-12 education i=
n
> developing countries at the G8 Summit in Canada on June 26th.

(4) The guideline suggests that we should contact you for your advices prio=
r
to our submission.

At our last mtg, you also told me of your willingness to introduce our
project to other possible funding sources which may be interested in global
e-learning and e-healthcare.

I would then be delighted if I could visit you again to hear of your advice=
s
how to improve our application.

Dear Alex:

(5) Pls visit the URL of our grant application to Tinker, and let me know
any revisions to be made.

Dear Pablo:

(6) I greatly appreciated your support letter to Dr. James D. Wolfensohn,
the President of the World bank for our InfoDev application.

I took the liberty of including your letter to him and his reply in APPENDI=
X
XI of our application to Tinker Foundation.

I would be very happy if you can kindly support our application to Tinker
Foundation, also.

Dear Mr. Sekigawa:

(7) When I visited the Consulate General at your office in the summer of
1996 and in August of 1998, he requested me to keep him informed on our
progress.

Pls convey him my best personal regards. Thanks in advance.

Best, Tak
