Dear Helena:
============

(1) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I), as introducing Mathy's
     excellent report "Improving Access to Education via Satellites in
     Africa: A Primer."

     It is very excellent, indeed. I downloaded, printed (about 140
     pages), and browsed through with great interest. It is very readable
     -- even for layman like me. I will read it more closely later.

Dear Dr. Mgaya and Mr. Kimaro, and E-Colleagues:
================================================

(2) I highly suggest that you download and read this report.

          Pls also get and read his excellent book "Toward a learning
          organization: Reviewing technologies for company training"
          Leuven University Press, Blijde-Inkomststraat 5, B-3000 Leuven
          (Belgium), ISBN 90-5867-072-4, D/2000/1869/66, 2000.

          This was mentioned in my previous list distribution "Report on
          trip to European Commission in Luxembourg and Brussels - January
          22, 2001," which can be retrieved at
          http://www.friends-partners.org/utsumi/gu-l/early-2001/1-22-a.html

Dear Mathy:
===========

(3) My sincere congratulations to your superb work!!

Dear Sally:
===========

(4) Almost a year has passed since I met you and Mathy in Brussels.

     Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT II) again.

     I took the liberty of admitting those people you kindly introduced to
     me, into our list so that they can be kept updated with our daily
     progress.

Dear Mathy and Sally:
=====================

(5) Pls take a look of the following my previous list distributions which
     mentioned the possible project with Dr. Mgaya and Mr. Kimaro in
     Tanzania;

     (a)  [gu-l] (12/15/01) Possible Tanzanian connection
     (b)  [gu-l] (12/24/01) Tanzania connection

     which can be retrieved at
     http://www.friends-partners.org/pipermail/gu-l/2001q4/date.html

     If everything goes well on Tanzania side, I would like to have your
     participation in and guidance to this project.

Very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year!!

Best, Tak

Dear Professor Utsumi,

I'm Helena Bijnens and I'm a collegue of Sally Reynolds and Mathy Vanbuel who
send you there best regards.

I'm writing you because we would like to inform you that we have published a
report which might be of any interest to you. It is about how satellite
technology can improve education in Africa and was commissioned by IMFUNDO, a
UK based development agency (www.imfundo.org). It is called 'Improving Access
to Education via Satellites in Africa: A Primer' and its objective is to
provide an overview of the opportunities afforded by recent developments in
satellite technology in meeting educational and development needs especially
in Sub-Saharan Africa.

It can be found at the following URL:
http://www.imfundo.org/satprimer/contents.htm

I hope it can be useful to you and I wish you happy reading,

Best Wishes,
Helena

Hello,
it was very nice to meet you again in Brussels the other day and I
hope the rest of your trip to Europe went well. When we met I
mentioned that there are a number of European organsations involved
in development who are also actively exploring the potential of
Information and Communication Technologies to further their
objectives who may be interesting for you to have contact with in the
light of your work with the Global University System. As you know
there are a great number based in Europe or with a significant
presence here, however I have made a small selection of 4
organisations or agencies I have been in contact with in the past
year or so who are actively working in this field and where I have
specific contact names...
