Dear Steve:
===========
(1) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I).
I thank you for your attendances at our mtgs at Hitachi and at the
Shinshu University during my visit to Japan last month.
I also thank you for your introduction to Dr. Tokuda. BTW, his
email did not work. Pls send me his correct one.
(2) Thank you very much for your sending me English version of Annex 1 of
Alex's CampusNet project which was translated by Roberto.
Dear Roberto:
=============
Many, many thanks for your effort!!!
I uploaded it to our web at
http://www.friends-partners.org/GLOSAS/Manaus%20Workshop/InfoDev_Application/infoDev_Proposa_%20v_4.html
I will revise this as you will send me your English refined version.
I would greatly appreciate it if you can make it as close appearance
as possible, to its original, e.g., table formate, etc.
(3) As for timing of your editing, can you finish your job for Annex 1 by
the end of this month?
Roberto, can you also finish your translation of Annex 2 by that time
so that Steve may be able to edit it by, say, October 15th?
BTW, Alex has already translated Annex 3 -- pls see it at the
above URL. Pls also edit this English, too.
(4) If you upload your edited version into your web, I can easily download
them and upload to our web -- as I did for Annex 1 as above.
Dear Bruce and Vicky:
=====================
(5) Since Roberto is doing the job for Annex 2, too, pls forget your
assignments.
Dear Marco:
===========
(6) Thanks for your original concern and suggestion to make these annexes
into English. The translation job is now going well, thanks to
Roberto's great effort.
Dear Prof. Yamasawa:
====================
(7) You met Steve with me at our mtg in your university in Matsumoto-City
last month.
Pls take a look of this Annex 1, since it is similar to your 6
dispersed campuses in your Nagano prefecture, albeit yours is to use
terrestrial microwave broadband (52 Mbps) Internet lines.
This document (including Annex 2 which will be translated soon by
Roberto and which is more on content development) would be valuable
reference for your building Global University System
(GUS)/Japan/Shinshu at your university, which would become a training
center of global e-learning for the people of developing countries in
the Asia and the Pacific. This will help the activities of the Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Best, Tak

Dr. Utsumi,
Glad to see that you are back in New York and working energetically. Prof.
Roberto Mueller in Vicosa has kindly drafted a translation of Annex 1. He
would need more time to start on Annex 2. I plan to edit the English, but
when are these files needed? I'm working on an hourly wage in Tokyo for
another week, so I'm wondering if after that would be all right.
To edit such files, the easiest way would be to copy Roberto's Web page to my
own site, write over it and send you all back the URL when it is done.
Of course I could wait until Annex 2 or the rest is sent to me, but it would
help to know the time frame for when the English versions are needed.
I'm receiving all my mail from the usual addresses, although another typhoon
is lashing Tokyo now.
Best,
Steve
