Dear Alex:
==========

(1)  I uploaded our InfoDev grant application into following URL;

     "GUS/Brazil/Amazon
     "Community Development with E-Learning and E-Healthcare in Amazon,
     Brazil" -- Grant application to be submitted to the InfoDev of the
     World Bank." at

          http://www.friends-
partners.org/GLOSAS/GLOSAS_USA/Page/List_of_Activities.html

     Or directly at

          http://www.friends-
partners.org/GLOSAS/Manaus%20Workshop/InfoDev_Application/infoDev_Proposa_%20v_4.html

     I wholeheartedly congratulate your excellent job done!!

Dear E-Colleagues:
==================

(2)  As mentioned in it, Alex has conducted two workshops;

     (a) A demonstrative conference on available new technologies for e
          -learning was held on August 21, 1998 in Manaus. See the
          following website for more detailed information:
          http://www.friends-partners.org/GLOSAS/GLH/10-21-
98_Manaus_Brazil/Flyer_&_Program_10-3-98.html

          At this time, our videoconference demonstration spanned from
          Tokyo to Ukraine.

     (b) A workshop to show the usefulness of the Internet as combining
          new technologies and contents was held on May 31, and June 1 and
          2, 2000 in Manaus. See: http://ab-tiama.pop-am.rnp.br/cca/workshop.

          Our telemedicine demonstration during this workshop connected
          with the University of Michigan for diagnosis of a real patient
          of heart disease, with echocardiogram.

     With those hard truck records, Alex has formed (a) a coalition of 6
     universities in the State of Amazon which are to be connected with
     broadband digital satellite and (b) a coalition of 6 non-profit
     organizations in the City of Manaus which are to be connected with
     broadband wireless Internet unit.

     The former is called "CampusNet" and the latter the "Manaus community
     development" projects.

     As you will see in ANNEXes in the above URL, Alex has also produced a
     preliminary proposal to deploy the CampusNet, with the list of
     necessary equipment and their cost estimates -- which current estimate
     at $12 million.

(3) He is now forging ahead to conduct another workshop in Manaus,
     Amazona, Brazil.

     The purpose of this workshop is to form a committee which will
     complete the project proposal with further feasibility study and
     market survey. This committee is then to produce more comprehensive
     documents of this project with detail budget which will be submitted
     to appropriate Brazilian governmental agencies which will then forward
     to the Japanese governmental agencies for funding. We will also seek
     other appropriate funding sources.

(4) Unfortunately, as you see, those ANNEXes are written in Portuguese
     which are not understood by many Japanese (including me).

     Therefore, I am now soliciting volunteers who can translate them into
     English.

     If there are a few of them come up, they may divide and share the job.

     Pls let me know if you can, at your earliest convenience.

Dear Vicky:
===========

(5) Referring to our phone conversation, I greatly appreciate your
     voluntary offer.

     I would appreciate it if you (and your friend) can translate, say, at
     least, a half of ANNEX II.

Dear Fred, Bruce and Peter:
===========================

(6) Would you be able to kindly help us to translate ANNEX I? Pls let me
     know.

Dear Alex:
==========

(7) You may try ANNEX III, since it seems an agreement form.

Dear Dean:
==========

(8) Pls visit the above URL.

     As noted in it, we would like to have your bio.

     Should you come to NYC on 7/31st (Tuesday), we can talk about this
     project further.

Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation.

Best, Tak
