[FPSPACE] Fwd: Progress 44 fails to reach orbit

Here, here!!!!!

The only name which matters for a Russian spacecraft is what the RUSSIANS call it. The NASA designators if different should be considered to be irrelevant and a fiction that is internal to NASA.

My semi-serious theory is that NASA is trying to erase any naming of Russian spacecraft which would show that the Russians did everything important with space station work long before ISS appeared or was even dreamt of.

I often feel I am fighting a one-man battle with this - well, now three with Rui and Jonathan McDowell on board as well.

Progress 44 fails to reach orbit
    25-08-2011 01:42 PM CEST

Bound for the International Space Station, Progress 44 was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome at 15:00 CEST yesterday but failed to reach its target orbit and crashed in Siberia, Russia. Five minutes and 50 seconds after launch, an "off-nominal situation" was reported, with a loss of telemetry.
