Hello all,

This weekend's Financial Times newspaper contains a very interesting comment about China's Yang Liwei in a larger magazine profile of all the non-US/Soviet astronauts. In reads:

"The public image of the now 45-year-old colonel is carefully crafted. A senior official of Xinhua, China's official news agency told journalism students last year that Yang's face had been covered with blood after landing. According to this account, workers cleaned him up, strapped him back in his seat and shut the capsule door. Then it was reopened and the state media pictures retaken."

Does anyone know if this story might be true?

I've always thought he had a slightly "stunned" look after landing and the pictures do seem to show a split lip!

Regards,
