I think there is now a danger that since obama is cutting back the space program in the US
not only is he damaging the US program but there could be a roll on effect elsewhere
hear in Europe , ESA was working with the Russians to develop a European maned spaceship ( ACTS ) this would have been rely impressive, using the ATV as a service module and a variant of the Columbus module as a hab and like what China has dun up scaled Soyuz command module as the crew vehicle , but due to the uncertainty because of obamas election the ESA council postponed by 2 years a decision.
now that obama has basically canceled constellation I do not see Europe going ahead with this project, a human return to the moon has to be an international project it could have created 1000s of jobs across the world now this is lost if it is just reduced to the ISS there is no need for either Europe or America developing a new space craft its cheaper just to buy seats from the Russians. like wise in Russia if there is going to be no moon program people might say why replace Soyuz it works OK for ISS. and then the big danger is China
if China sees the west retreating from deep space again they might say whats the point .
as I asked the other night what happens in 2020 ? at the end of the ISS program America will only have and there is no guarantee that out of thin air a spaceship can be produced presumably Dragon is the front runner only capable of LEO unlike Orion. it will have no mission with out the ISS had constellation continued the US would have a post ISS future.

If you knew a bit about current Russian system you'd
understand that everything Putin shoves through Duma
the latter passes without objections.

You didn't see my sarcasm? I know that Obama's decision
is dictated by the U.S. interests and capabilities.
I do not believe his intention is to undermine Russian
efforts.
In the same logic I believe that Putins' move on Fannie Mae
and Freddie Mac stock was dictated by Russian interests and
not by a desire to exacerbate the U.S. crisis. And his
approach to Chinese was an attempt to advice friends.
I do not need to be Paulson to think this simple way.
