 a few in the White House inner circle - it makes poor sense to
 spend money landing men on the moon, when the epic battle to
 lower CO2 emissions needs all available dough.

 The US voter, however, must avoid Charybdis as well as Scylla.
 If the latter is represented by the Democratic Party's call for
 saving the planet against carbon dioxide emissions, the former
 can be identified by the Grand Old Party's penchant for chasing
 shadows of Osama Bin Laden throughout the Islamic world - to the
 tune of billions of dollars of military expenditure.
