Subject: Job Opening in Orbital Debris

Dear ODQN Subscriber,

This is a heads-up announcement that a civil servant position is opening in the NASA JSC Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science Directorate (ARES) for the position of Orbital Debris Scientist. JSC Human Resources will post the vacancy announcement on USAJOBS within the next two weeks, if all goes as planned.

The successful candidate will conduct research with an emphasis on remote measurements of the orbital debris environment and will be responsible for conceiving, conducting, and directing research using optical and infrared or radio-frequency techniques to define the orbital debris environment. The announcement will contain details on the position.

In the meantime, anyone interested may want to get familiar with USAJOBS http://www.usajobs.gov/, specifically with the resume builder feature. Attached are helpful tips from HR on writing a resume for USAJOBS, including guidance on the application process.

If you have any questions about the position, feel free to contact Doug Ming, Human Exploration Science Office Manager (douglas.w.ming at nasa.gov) or Gene Stansbery, Orbital Debris Program Office Manager (eugene.g.stansbery at nasa.gov). For questions on the USAJOBS application process, contact Candy Hunt, HR representative (candace.s.hunt at nasa.gov).
