[FPSPACE] First Clown in Space -- But Far From First Comedian

While Cirque de Soleil is celebrating the launch of the 'first clown in space',
maybe it's time to remind outselves of his predecessors, who included the
first comedians in space -- with their own stunts, jokes, and gimmicks to
disarm the hyper-serious nature of that new, alien environment. 

Wally Schirra comes to mind, and others.

For an article I'm preparing for the MSNBC.com space website, can you share
other examples of deliberate -- and successful -- humor deployed in space in
years past?
