[FPSPACE] Soyuz-1 to fly with Moon Race-era engines

Many years ago when Aerojet was working with the Kuznetsov organization all
the engines NK-33's and NK-43's that were in storage were pulled back to the
factory and checked for their condition with at least one test fired besides
the two done by Aerojet here in the states. Apparently as they did their
through inspection all the engines were found to be in excellent shape for
Russian and Western application. Yes preparation for new production is ready
once funds are committed to the effort. This engine series I expect to prove
them to truly be one of the crown jewels of Russian Technology. This was
featured in the History Channels, Modern Marvels, Cosmodrome program years
ago. I am very proud to have been part of that process of bringing that
technology to the US for application to US launch vehicles.

As I understand, they plan to start using old engines, but also resume
production later, especially if Soyuz-2-3 follows Soyuz-1, which is not
impossible, giving potential commercial missions from Kourou.

Are they planning to open up an assembly line to make these engines, or are
they going to just burn the ones off that they have in storage?

It looks like the Soyuz-1 rocket, equipped with engines from the Soviet N-1
rocket has a good chance to launch as early as 2011. It means that NK-33
engines built as long as four decades ago will finally get a chance to fly.
Here is what I could glance at MAKS-2009 show and couple of other sources:
