This is very OT.
One of the movies presented this year at the festival in Venice is called
"Cosmonauta" (Cosmonaut). Actually it is a movie centered on the life of a
communist family in Italy during the 1960, with little or nothing to do with
space.
The movie is preceded by the short cartoon "Sputnik 5". This is how it is
described in newspapers: "Two dogs, two mice and a small group of insects
travel on Sputnik 5, proud and happy to be among the first space explorers,
but a female spider is damping their enthusiasm. She says they are not
astronauts but guinea pigs, surely destined to die like Laika and many other
animals that disappeared in space during other Soviet experiments. After a
bit of disarray, dogs and mice decide that the spider is just a capitalist
spy, regain their faith and in fact they get back to Earth alive and
triumphant singing the Soviet anthem".
The director of the movie and cartoon, 33-year old Susanna Nicchiarelli,
said she became inspired in learning more of the 1960s "space race" after
she visited the cosmonautics museum in Saint Petersburg.
