Hi all -
Uhh, guys, I wouldn't depend on Mike Griffin for comment and analysis of team Obama's space goals and policies. Griffin's goal was to get us stuck with the Stick, and it doesn't look to me like that's going to happen.
I also read this morning Cowing's (Scoop's) "inside the WH" report on the 60 day review teams this morning. It looks to me like he got the names backwards. :P)
I've been reading the Wall Street Journal space industry reportage myself, which seems to be better sourced.
While I'm a long way from Washington, and have had a pretty bad stroke, I think that having met resistance from Thiokol, Obama is simply leaving all of this to set until Thiokol ends up begging for Direct. Some of the hysterical stories that will show up in the meantime are simply Thiokol spin.
My guess is that the EELVs (and possibly Falcon) will be used for ISS
service. I hope that team Obama goes with Direct for the Moon, as I
hope he will not allow that technology base simply be thrown away.
But CAPS
can be done with the heavy EELVs, though not as well, if the decide to
go that way.

Man and Impact in the Americas
PS 1 - It looks like the stimulus money is starting to arrive with the beginning of the construction season.
PS 2 - Charlie, I think you're really mistaken comparing Obama to Carter. He and his wife look to me like JFK with a tan, and it looks to me like Obama has more than a touch of FDR in his political techniques.
