Hi everyone -

At the Association of Space Explorers meeting in DC in 1992, Konstantin Feoktistov kindly sketched for me on a paper dinner place mat one of the later TMK designs, along with the Mars satellite communication system for use with it. As I don't wish to cause him any problem, let me add that I suspect that he did this with President Yeltsin's approval, as I had asked Yeltsin himself for that information a short time earlier during a public tour of his of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

At the same meeting Cosmonaut Makarov also answered several of my key questions on the Soviet Moon program, including N-1 payloads.

The OS 1 shroud information for the N-1 was handed to me a little later on, and I began looking at the IBMP facilities, trying to reverse engineer the OS1/TMK.

There was at that time also an article (from Afanasyev (sp)?) written about dealing with the back contamination problem for Martian samples aboard a Martian orbiter. (They were to be irradiated, and then remains examined.). I also had another source for information on the Marse Piat scheme.

Valentin Glushko's final paper was on using the Energia for a relatively inexpensive manned Mars orbital mission. Of course that ended with the collapse of the Energia storage shed, and we all know where those engines went to.

While many of you are still focused on the N-1, as you spent much time researching it years ago, I myself came into this in 1985, with the Energia and the manned Moon base for the 75th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution.

I've asked several of you to comment on the flaws in Zubrin's Mars architectures, but it appears that you're afraid of arousing the manned Mars enthusiasts' ire.

Of course, I'm living in the 21st century dealing with the impact hazard, and have been since 1997.

PS - Most of you now get supported for public comment on the North Korea- Iran network. IF the Camp David accords or Oslo agreements had of been implemented, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would have come to an end a long while back, along with much of the demand for weapons delivery systems.

None of you (with the exception of FAS) comment on Israel's weapons systems. Its funny how that works.
