I'll disagree with you. 

I don't think that President Obama is going to 
loose our launch industry, nor our satellite
industry, nor the US aviation industry. Ain't 
gonna happen. He'll get someone who can do what 
is necessary to preserve and strengthen them.

My guess: At some point soon (given my usual lead
time on issues), 

The confusion that has dominated the discussion 
of space issues for the last 15 years will 
come to an abrupt end. What has to be done 
will become clear.

95% of the peoples living in North America died 
due to impact about 13,000 years ago. Millions
of people have died due to impacts; nations 
have disappeared.

At some point the realization will set in that
we're all already in space, passengers on 
spaceship Earth.
