Some of you may already know but I just found out that Peter Gorin
passed away earlier this year on January 21, 2009 in Norfolk, VA. I am
deeply saddened and shocked by this news. I first met Peter in the
early 1990s at a time when the doors on Soviet space history had
opened. He was one of the earliest and best analysts of this new
information in the West. He published a number of significant pieces
on Soviet space history, particularly on the Zenit and Yantar'
reconnaissance satellite programs.

On a personal note, he was a good friend of mine and was an incredibly
generous and giving person. His help was invaluable to my first book,
for which he contributed some excellent drawings. I will miss him.

A brief note from The Daily Press (of Williamsburg, VA where Peter
lived) here:

(not sure if the URL will come through as one string -- if not, a
search at the following URL for "Gorin" will lead you to the
announcement.)
