Hi all -
In addition to Dourdain's comment on CAPS, we have mention of lunar telescopes by Astronaut Cernan:

I'd like to add to my earlier comments on the lack of funding for comet impact research. Besides the denial, the NASA budget is largely controlled by manned Mars flight "enthusiasts" who do not want to see "their" money diverted to take care of other business.
But for the deaths of Gene Shoemaker and George Brown Jr, this would have been fixed 10 years ago. Their deaths, combined with Dr. Benny Peiser taking the Cambridge Conference over to from comet impact to global warming scepticism; and my own stroke...
The answer to "Why Space?" has been there all along, but few have understood it.
The comet impact with Jupiter came at a very good time.
E.P.
PS - there is a small fragmented comet head our way
