Sorry to be so late in getting back to you. Thanks for cleaing that up. 

 

Somehow the recovery of the Holocene start impact layer was not done by NASA, nor by the USGS, but by PBS - the Public Television Service, that notorious hot bed of left wingers.  I am kind of wondering who at USGS and NASA let down the ball on this one, and I am still waiting for the USGS cores from the Carolinas.  Now I know who to bitch about over at USGS: the Astrogeology Division.

 

As far as "astrogeology" goes, if you take a look at all of those maps and images you're archiving, you'll notice the circular features. They're impact craters. "Astrogeology" is studying impact craters, and that is what Gene Shoemaker was doing in 1960, when he coined the term. 

 

That makes you and Day working on impacts. The paradigm is shifting.
