Hi David -

That's okay, I should have noticed as well. Good catch, Charlie.

The diameter of the early Tiangong mockup that was photographed in the construction building could be estimated by looking at the width of the track and the cart - and the launcher in the background - 3.35 m if I remember.

One of the TV show images showed the other end of Tiangong without a dock, but instead with some curious "cans" - I can't find a link to it now, maybe Chen Lan caught those images from the video. They are probably propellant tanks for the attitude control system. With the recess for the solar panels, that section was probably too narrow for manned access, and looked something like the SZ attitude/re-entry "instrument" module.

Using CZ 2 -3's that left a join between the core (Tiangong 1 or Tiangong 2) and the section docked on (Tiangong 2 or Tiangong 1). Of course both could be launched mated with the CZ 2H.

Any of you broken out the docks yet?

This new image is way different - diameter 5 m or so for CZ5 launch.

So, congratulations on spotting the first image of China's 2017 station.

(who wishes he were at a motel in Cocoa beach or in Tucson at the meteorite show instead of freezing his **** off in Illinois.)
