For any european based observers who might fancy a chance at seeing DSP-23
trundle through the six Astra group , the event will commence tonight for
about 24 hours.

The slow flashing seen two nights ago is now confirmed as DSP.Apparently
this sort of behaviour has been noted before. The flash period of "23" seems
to be about 14.5 minutes and I am told is probably due to a combination of
phase angle and drfift ( thanks GR :O) )

The higher res animation is now here...

and if you look closely the satellite can just be seen , very faint ,
between flashes.

For observers I suggest setting up on the Astra 1 goup over the next two
evenings and waiting for DSP to move through. It may be constant mag 12 or so
, or it may be extremely faint.

Please report any sightings.

Many thanks

John
