 It takes two to tango, Ed! Never mind what JFK 
 wanted, the Soviet Union was an entirely different
 cup of tea than Boris Yeltsin's Russia.

 Don't make the assumption that the Apollo18/Soyuz19
 joint flight was more than a demonstration of the
 will to co-exist, even if hugely popular with 
 ordinary Russians.

 Because Yeltsin lacked the paranoia, which accompanied
 the battle for world supremacy between the US and USSR,
 he had no fear inviting loads of amerikanskiy spionov
 aboard his nation's flagship MIR.
