Hi -

There is much speculation as to Griffin's successor, with the analysts operating on their own knowledge of individuals and their own biases. Hubbard and Bolden are being speculated about.

What we've seen historically is that the Administrators come from places the analysts never expected, and that the Administrators were found by skilled search teams working with intimate knowledge that the public analysts did not possess. There was surprise at all of the Administrators when they were announced, most recently in the cases of Goldin, O'Keefe, Griffin. Of course, nothing is known publicly about the Direct team, and all of the analysts know little about the principle engineers involved in it.

This NASA internal study looks interesting, though it appears it keeps the Ares 1/ Ares 5 illusion going:

Also, in this news report the summary of Russia's response to Georgia's attacks on South Ossetia and Abkhazia are misrepresented.

The two year option should be enough to get Direct operational, with zero job loss and much improved capabilities coming out the other side, including early Moon development capabilities, and much better ISS utilization. Of course, that may be my own Direct bias at work. I suppose we'll all see soon.

Here's hoping for better times ahead,
