Hi all -

This would be funny if it weren't so sad:
http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn17052-nasa-may-abandon-plans-for-moon-base.html

Scolese tries to pretend that Griffin's architecture was something more than simply tests for manned Mars missions, while at the same time trying to throw a sop to planetary defense by bringing up a manned mission to a Near Earth Asteroid:

Thankfully the ESAS 60 day review is being done outside NASA.

In my opinion, NASA's main manned long term goals should be:
1) Finding the next impactor before it hits.
2) Preventing it from doing so.

In other words, CAPS. I just hope they bring Mazanek along with Worden to work on the ESAS 50 day review. As a matter of fact,
Mazanek might make a fine Administrator, as would Worden.

Finally, the quicker Weiler and Morrison are relieved, the faster these goals will be met. There needs to be a change made at NSF as well.

All in all, a damn depressing day. The forecast for the next few years based on solar activity is for cold right now.
