[FPSPACE] Russian sub to launch SA second satellite (Sumbandilasat)

hi FPSPACE,

  as the only South African on this email group (as far as I know!) let
me chip in.

1. My latest information is that the perrenially-delayed Sumandila will
be launched as a secondary payload on a RSA? Energia? rocket that is
launching a Russian magnetism research satellite. Launch is now
anticipated for either May or June.

2. This article appears to merge all the details for the planned 2007
launch from an under-employed Russian missile-firing sub, with the
currently-planned launch.

3. The only other facts that I know is that South Africa has got the
budget to build a further seven microsats over ten years, which will be
put out to tender to whoever can provide the lowest-price launch
service.
