It reminds me of that famous "uncooperative inspection mission" which was intended for Gemini 5 and REP .........

Does the subsatellite have any pedigree related to the
Surreysat payloads flown earlier?
Re-rendezvous with an inert (presumably) target does not seem to me
to be a step towards manned docking missions -- it smells more like
an uncooperative inspection mission.
