Whatever allegorical explanations religious minds offer for spiritual
phenomena,
there will always be a bunch of idiots who interpret as exoteric what was

Why do they do it? One possible answer is that Shi Yu was taken in by 
someone trying to pass themselves off as a Dr. Qu Zheng of JPL, when in fact
it was someone who is a part of "the man did not walk on the Moon" and "the
face on Mars"  crowd.

There are certain offshoots of old US theosophists groups who believe that
all planets including the Moon were actually inhabited. They hold this as a
religious belief. In their belief system, since the planets were inhabited,
the have physical remains of those habitations. They believe that since NASA
wants to hide the existence of those remains, all manned space flight to the
Moon was either faked, or heavily censored. Among those who believe that
NASA faked manned space flight, there is a subgroup who promote the idea
that the radiation in space makes manned space flight impossible.
Thus in their belief system Chinese astronauts could not have walked in
space.

Perhaps this fraud is a part of the most wide spread and well organized
international cult being promoted today. You can write to me for an earlier
draft of a piece covering this cult, which unfortunately I have not had time
to update for this particular bit of nonsense. But the piece as it sits now
will tell you how it is done, and why.
