Is this normal, that you get bruises from 10 g?

Does she or the journalist mix things up here? Does she mean 10 g, 
not 4 g? Surely space flight participants learn that you'll 
experience 4 g during a normal descent? I thought they even were run 
in centrifuges with loads at least of this order. And they must also 
be told that a ballistic reentry may happen, with retardations up to 8-10 g?
