Forgot to say that there are also VIKA candles that release oxygen 
when 'burned' - one of these started the fire in the Kvant 1 module 
of Mir.

Long ago, the Russians also used use-once CO2 scrubbers (the 
equivalent of Apoll's LiOH cans).
