Gentleman (and fellow FPSpacers),
I think the "90%" may be an exaggeration, but an appropriate one. Just as Ed
stated that the N1 put a dozen men on the moon, I think it's safe to say that
if it weren't for the Russian cooperation with the United States in building
the ISS, the only space station we'd be seeing orbiting Earth would be Mir
2. And no matter how much of the ISS is Russian built, very shortly the
Americans will soon be 100% dependant on the Russians.
If America is serious about continuing manned space exploration, rather than
criticizing the Russians we need to acknowledge where we stand, put a
serious space initiative in place (and stick to it this time), and collectively
kiss the Russian's asses. Because like it or not, Vladimir Putin has
successfully put the Russian Federation into a place where, simply as a matter of
national prestige, they can take the reins and extend man's reach into the solar
system.
At this point I foresee a multitude of nations sending Man to Mars within my
life time. There will be a number of flags placed there. However, the first
one won't be the Red, White, and Blue ... it will be White, Blue and Red.
My two cent's worth.

Jakob, can you explain how you arrived at this number?
