It looks like a deal has finally been reached to ship the BTS-002 vehicle
from Bahrain to Germany, where it will become a permanent exhibit at the
Technik Museum Speyer (about 1 hour south of Frankfurt airport). This is
reported by Russian Buran expert Vadim Lukashevich on his website at
http://www.buran.ru/htm/news.htm

BTS-002 is the full-scale Buran model that was used for approach and landing
tests in the 1980s. The vehicle left Russia in 1999, when it was shipped to
Sydney, Australia and put on display during the 2000 Summer Olympic Games.
It was later transported to Bahrain to be displayed at the 2002 Summer
Festival, but eventually ended up in a junkyard. Museum officials left for
Bahrain on 27 February to make final arrangements. BTS-002 is expected to
leave Bahrain in the next two to three months for a 23-day journey by sea to
the port of Rotterdam. There it will be transferred to a barge and
transported to its final destination via rivers and canals. A building is
under construction on the museum's premises to house BTS-002 (see the
picture on the website).
