[FPSPACE] Soviet underwater EVA training preceding StarCityHydrolab?

The hydrolab was built in 1980.

The Training centre had a swimming pool from the mid 60's and some training
for Voshkod and early Soyuz spacewalks occurred there but no evidence of
mockups being used. It was where the Neptune events were held.

There are pictures of Vostok cosmonauts doing water training in a pool which
I am sure was at an Aviation test centre. This was being pulled through
water.

Zvezda must have a pool. Others to ask is Grechko re pre Soyuz 26 Gorbatko
for Almaz and Leonov. I am seeing Leonov in April so will do so. Also you do
not necessary have to use current mock ups in training some old equipment
might have been used to support training in the Salyuts of the 80's at Star
City.

Best wishes
Rex

John,

As they used to say on the old "Radio Moscow" shortwave program, "Straight
from the horses' mouth!". I'll contact Dr. Abramov and see if he'll be kind

enough to clear this up.

Dave, that is intriguing. Maybe the water tank used for Almaz
training was used as the model for the Hydrolab. Or maybe it was
really the same tank, relocated. Or maybe the Hydrolab info I have is
incorrect.

I wonder how one would decide which is the case?
