Dave, thanks again for this info. I have read Abramov's book but didn't recall those points.
Do you suppose there might even have been two or even three such water tanks preceding the GCTC Hydrolab? One at Zvezda, one at Chelomei's location, and a third at Energiya?

Hi John,
This was definitely a Mockup of the KSI loading as seen from the Almaz
station side. The footage preceding the underwater shot shows several men
examining this structure, assumably before it was placed in the water. The "frame"
structure is the airlock section of the Almaz station while the solid structure
is the docking end of the TKS.
In "Russian Spacesuits" Issak Abramov states on page 116-117, "In 1967 the
first sample of the ORLAN suit was manufactured, and its laboratory testing and
refinement were carried out in 1968. Because the main type of cosmonaut
training given for working outside the spacecraft under weightlessness conditions
was done in a hydro lab, a special version of the ORLAN pressure suit was
developed." And on page 138 "In 1974 the SOKOL-KV suit underwent laboratory
test, including functional test, evaluation test on donning and accommodation in
the KAZBEK shock-absorbing seat, and floatation test in the Zvezda water
tank."
Hope this is helpful!
