 Fair enough, Ed, but in all other respects than geography
 the USA is out and out a European country.

 The immigrational eddy of New York city a century ago has
 extraordinary similarities to the Viking hub of the city
 of York a millennium ago.

 Don't make the mistake of identifying Europe only with the
 dark ages, which - if I'm not mistaken - affected the USA
 as well. At least I seem to remember a tale of the locals
 burning female USAmericans as witches on the stake at Salem,
 MA.
