50 Years of Satellite Tracking

Phil Rossoni Last week, on October 4th, the whole world took note of the 
50th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite. 
Today, the 11th, marks the anniversary of another Sputnik event that also 
deserves notice — especially for the long-time Sky & Telescope readers who 
helped to make it happen.
