Fellow FPSpacers,
I found an interesting item available for sale which brought up some
questions. Here is an abstract of the "sales pitch" along with the URL where you can
see various photos of this hardware ...
OD-4 Vzor pointing scope as part Agat-1, an optical stationary system, a
primary surveillance instrument used on Almaz OPS- the first military space
station mission as a first Russian manned military reconnaissance of the
earth's surface.
The size of device is 45" x 20" x 18". The weigh is 45 kg (100lb). It is
consist of two camera objectives, inside the body there are system of lenses
and mirrors. The control panels with the buttons, switchers and regulators
on both sides of the camera. A film cassette compartment. Few buttons are
missing.
It is one of the largest, rare and historically one of most important space
hardware in our collection. Certainly a unique piece in history of space
espionage and Cold War. [url="http://www.alacona.com/almazcamera.jpg"]
Price $10500.00
Based on everything I have, this is NOT the same design which was used on
the Almaz OPS. But, beyond that is the question of what type of optical system
was used. About half of the references state that Almaz utilized an OD-4
Vzor, while the other half list it as an OD-5. Does anyone here have a SOLID
reference as to which it really was.
Thanks all!
