Don't you find it a bit odd that, you would have more of inclination to
believe the US intelligence data if it was saying the Soviet mission was
less successful than public promulgations, but not if it was the other way
around?
Correct me if I am wrong, but is the perception that you are stating is that
perhaps the US equipment worked "Better" when it was finding launch
failures, but "Less well" when it may have data that the spacecraft worked
for a bit longer, or did things the Russians did not publicly proclaim that
it did?
I am having a slight bit of cognitive dissonance. I hope you can set me
straight on that.
In the text that the graphs you discuss are from, the writers did mention
that the Soviets could have claimed a "throw weight achievement" in regards
to the early Zond attempts that got stranded in Earth orbit. And also notes
that the Russians did not.
