I think the first discussions I remember seeing on subject-as a child in 60s-mixed both topics. I remember the wonderful pics in "Frontiers of Space" by Bono and Gatland of the Hyperion/Pegasus etc where iirc the vehicles were dual-use by design.

Typing this at Heathrow, waiting for a long flight to LA in coach, rather wishing the Pegasus had materialised as promised ...;-)
