I believe, too, because I can't figure a way to have picked him out
personally. And I've experienced how life-threatening it is standing
on a Russian highway in daylight. 

But I did wonder, long and hard...

As I am now.

But facts need to drive conclusions, not the other way around,
no matter the emotional or ideological attractiveness of comforting
beliefs. I know I struggle against my own self in such determinations,
but perhaps recognizing our weaknesses arms us against them.

And exploitations of the human tragedies of others, to enable
or validate our personal biases, ranks high on my list of sins.
I write that as an acknowledged sinner, hopefully repentent.
