Ex-cosmonaut finds space for Scots mission
news.scotsman.com
ONE of the pioneers of space exploration touched down in Scotland to make
arrangements ahead of a conference in the Capital.
Former Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, who was the first man in history to
complete a space walk, will discuss plans for the Association of Space
Explorers conference to be held in Edinburgh in September.
His "mission priority" was to help launch Careers Scotland's Festival of
Science yesterday, as part of the Space School initiative running across the
country.
The 73-year-old was one of several space experts visiting the Glasgow
Science Centre, along with Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield and more than a
dozen other Nasa engineers and technicians.
The Space School is a two-week programme of events across Scotland which
will see the space explorers visit schools.
